| The European Commission has launched the second EU Journalism Award for paper and online press. This award takes part in the Europe for Patients campaign, which started in September 2008.
The prize aims to reward the high quality journalist reports in order to raise social awareness abour healthcare and patient rights. This edition follows last year’s edition, which received more that 460 articles of journalist from all over the EU.
The winners will be elected on the basis of the following criteria: in each EU country, a national jury chaired by the European Commission and composed by journalists and experts in health will select a national finalist. Among the 27 finalists, an EU jury will chose three winners for the whole EU.
The first, second and third prize will consist of 5.000, 3.000 and 2.000 euros in cash. All the national finalists will participate in a seminar regarding health issues in the EU that will be held next fall 2010.
All journalists are invited to present their articles published in press and online media in the period between the 16th of June and the 1st of July 2010.
