EU launches a public consultation in order to help improve the situation of victims of crime and violence acts in Europe
27/07/2010
Each year, around 30 million serious crimes are registered in the EU. Therefore, the EC has launched a public consultation that aims to give stakeholders and civil society the opportunity to present their views about which concrete actions to take on rights, support and protection of victims of crime and violence that could be developed at EU level.
This consultation process will also give the Commission an insight into concrete experiences of those working with victims of crime, particularly regarding the difficulties they encounter when assisting victims and the problems faced by those victims.
The Commission will use the results of this consultation process to elaborate package of practical measures that will support victims in their justice process, but also once it will be finished.
Contributions are particularly sought from organisations, associations, bodies, institutions and experts who deal with victims of crime and violence at local, regional, national, European or international levels.
The deadline for making contributions to the consultation process is 30th September 2010.
